_fade is a puzzle-adventure game focused on the exploration of a surreal inner world, featuring three vast areas concealing untold secrets and mysteries. The main playable character, a shadow with no identity, must journey through these scenarios and find out what lies deep within.
This experience is envisioned as the first of a greater story arc, following the evolution of this entity from a featureless shadow to a more complex, ascended being. The player's task would be to guide this creature throughout his fragmented inner world and solve various puzzles to "reconstruct" the oneiric dimension. Since the experience is meant to be atmospheric other than a symbolic introduction to the story arc, there is no real plot other than what the player experiences through their interactions.
What the experience currently has:
- Three major explorable areas featuring various surreal thematically linked sub-sections
- Immersing soundscapes and ambiances to enrich the game atmosphere
- Custom pixel art graphics reminiscent of the 16-bit era
- An ever-changing world depending on player choices

_fade isn't a complete game despite the presence of an ending, that does look like an epilogue but doesn't really give us any definitive answer
Who was our shadow? What were the other shadows? There aren't even many dialogues to make up a story (just the introduction and some indications that we have to "vanquish darkness"), anyway from a visual point of view it's a pretty stylish game, music is good, and the gameplay is also ok, the puzzles and mazes weren't too bad in my opinion. I don't remember how much time it took me to finish (rm2k3 does not register the playtime), but it's not a very long game, I think it was about an hour, mostly spent solving puzzles and navigating mazes.
Pretty cool, still I find impossible to give a rating since this is a prototype, but for me it was a good experience!
